THE LEAP DAY!
-A leap year (or intercalary year) is a year containing one or more extra days (or in months) in order to keep the calendar year synchronised with the seasonal year. For example, February would have 29 days in a leap year instead of the usual 28. Seasons and astronomical events do not repeat at an exact number of full days, so a calendar which had the same number of days in each year would over time drift with respect to the event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting an additional day or month into the year, the drift can be corrected.
-Leap Year has been the traditional time that women can propose marriage. In many of today's cultures, it is okay for a woman to propose marriage to a man. Society doesn't look down on such women. However, that hasn't always been the case. When the rules of courtship were stricter, women were only allowed to pop the question on one day every four years. That day was February 29th.
-Scotland passed a law that allowed women to propose marriage to the man of their choice in that year. They also made it law that any man who declined a proposal in a leap year must pay a fine. The fine could range from a kiss to payment for a silk dress or a pair of gloves.
I was bored enough to read some articles about leap year,
so i decided to post some things that i find it interesting.
and 1 chapter + 1/4 of 小故事大道理 and i return it to wanxuan.
Because wanxuan will have chinese paper on May too..
so i'm left with another chinese book.
